As a car driver, I usually drive around 10% to 20% over the limit, so around 55-60 in cities, 90 outside city and around 130-140 on highways. Do Truck drivers really drive below or at least not over the speed limit? The highway limit is 80 like outside city, but I would drive around 100 there

Also note, that like real cameras, they flash at the car speed limit, not the (sometimes) lower truck limit, so set the route finder to show the car limit. Assuming you've disabled the speed limiter anyway. With that on, any time truck and car limits are different it's above 90kph anyway.

The game is supposedly a simulator. In real life HGV's are restricted by regulation/law to 56MPH/96KMH which is enforced by a speed limiter installed within the truck itself, be grateful we don't also have to sit and wait for 11 hour rest periods or anything else.

There are truck speed limits and car speed limits on American (and European) roads. The signs you see on the side of the road refer to car speed limits. Yes, sometimes the truck limit is the same as the car limit but not always. The only way you'll know the truck speed limit is to have the Route Advisor visible. or You can try Hemil's Route
The speed limiter is limiting the speed to 90km/h. If you can not go faster than 40km/h then it very likely is something on your end. Make sure that your redarder isn't active and that you aren't having the brake active when you drive. A truck with a loaded trailer might be quite slow uphill, that's normal.

In the gameplay options you can disable the Truck Speed Limiter. It should be possible in the demo as well. But IRL, as Wolfgang writes, the speed limits for trucks in Europe are 80/90 km/h in most countries. So I have recently bought ETS2 and I've had ATS for a full year. However i've now started to notice a big difference between ATS and ETS2 and that is the trucks in ETS2 seemed to be locked at 55 MPH. This is a little odds since a lot of the truck speed limits have you going over 60 MPH sometimes. I understand that a lot of modded trucks have higher speeds but all of the trucks I have used all 9GGo9.
