The Canon brand RF to EF adapters allow Canon brand EF lenses to work as well as they did on the best SLRs. The AF is full lens speed and AF and metering work perfectly. Basically no compromises. For Sigma/Tamron/Tokina glass it kind of depends on the lens, but most work pretty well. Reply Reply with quote Reply to thread Complain.
The primary difference between a crop (EF-S) lens and a full-frame (EF) lens is how big the image circle is that the lens projects. An EF-S lens will only cover an APS-C sensor fully within its smaller circle, while an EF lens will fully cover the much larger full frame sensor (and by extension, can also cover a smaller APS-C one).
