There are no "must do's" while leveling. I think the best way to level your first character is to treat the game like Skyrim: explore new areas, and try out different traits and utility skills. This isn't like other games where leveling is fetch-quest after fetch-quest to get to endgame. The only important thing is to take your time and enjoy
